Delboy Trotter just has to be the favourite actor for so many people, just as Only Fools and Horse is the favourite TV programme for so many. Played by the legendary British actor, David Jason, Delboy's antics are still spoken about even though the last episode was screened several years ago.
Delboy is such a lovable character, the typical wide boy and many of the Only Fools and Horses episodes have gone down as all time classics due to the acting of David Jason as well as all of the other characters who were chosen so well for the programme.
When Only Fools and Horses started, Delboy lived with his brother Rodney and his Granddad in a high rise flat in Peckham, London but the story line has since evolved with Rodney and Delboy both getting married, Rodney moving out of the flat but Delboy and his wife and child still living in the flat with Uncle Albert.
There are so many memorable episodes of Only Fools and Horses but for me, two scenes stand out above all others. The first one being where Delboy is going through his yuppy phase and is enjoying a drink in a posh wine bar with his good friend Trigger.
This particular scene centres on Delboy trying to catch the eye of some ladies but whilst he is not looking the barman lifts up a section of the bar that Delboy is leaning on, to go and collect some glasses. Delboy doesn't realise this and when he leans back on the bar you see him fall over, very, very funny and an iconic moment in the life of Delboy Trotter.
The funniest scene in my opinion was when Del's wife, Raquel was giving birth to his son Damien. Delboy has sold some dodgy wigs earlier in the week and it turned out that the male midwife was wearing one.
When it came off during delivery and Delboy thought that the baby was being born with a full head of hair was absolutely hilarious and I don't think that I have ever laughed so hard in my life.
So, Delboy Trotter, a working class hero in the eyes of so many viewers, everyone knows someone who reminds them a bit of Delboy and that is perhaps one of the many reasons why he is such a much loved TV character and a favourite of so many.
